Resources for Undergraduate Statistics Majors
The Statistical Computing Facility (SCF) is a unit of the academic Department of Statistics, formally organized in 1986. In support of the University's mission of teaching, research, and public service, the SCF provides computing, networking, and information resources to the community of students, faculty, and staff of the Statistics Department, Biostatistics Graduate Group in the School of Public Health, and the Econometrics Laboratory of the Department of Economics. SCF account holders have access to computing resources such as a network of compute servers, workstations, and laboratory desktops equipped with R, Matlab, and other development environments. Students in the Statistics major may register for an account, even without enrolling in a lab course. Complete the online SCF account request form here: http://www.stat.berkeley.edu/99. The Undergraduate Major Staff Advisor will be asked to verify declared Statistics majors.

A Statistics Major undergraduate student organization does not currently exist. However, a Statistics Graduate Student Association (SGSA) does exist and sometimes holds events and seminars open to undergraduates. Here are a few undergraduate student groups that may be of interest to Statistics majors. A full directory of registered student organizations can be found here: http://students.berkeley.edu/osl/studentgroups/public/index.asp. If you are interested in creating a Statistics student organization, please contact Denise Yee in the Statistics Department (cco@stat.berkeley.edu).
