The handout you were given was the short paper ``Mouse loci for malaria-induced mortality and the control of parasitemia'' by Foote et al, Nature Genetics 17 1997: 380-381. This concerned a quantitative trait - peak parasitemia - and so we begin this week with a quick review of the genetics of quantitative traits.
