Difficulties with MCMC

Three main problems are encountered in the application of MCMC techniques in linkage analysis. We give here a brief description of each of them.

• Finding an admissible starting genetic state X
• Achieving irreducibility
• Multimodality and stopping rules (knowing when enough is enough)
