After completing her undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Sandra joined the Division of Biostatistics of the University of California at Berkeley. She received her M.A. in Biostatistics in May 2002. Under the supervision of Professor Mark J. van der Laan, she received her Ph.D. in May 2006. Sandra's dissertation was entitled "Data-Adaptive Prediction with the Deletion/Substitution/Addition Algorithm."
